Collagen Induction Therapy
What is Collagen Induction Therapy?
Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a medical procedure used in micro needling to break down old scar tissue & to stimulate skin cells to proliferate. This cell multiplication results in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibres (neo-collagenesis) as well as in new capillaries for an improved blood supply (neo-angiogenesis).This procedure works by stimulating your own body’s collagen. Your body will start to naturally regenerate the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. New skin cells are generated & blood supply is enhanced
What will happen during the treatment?
We will undertake a thorough facial analysis and detailed discussion before proposing an appropriate treatment plan. The actual procedure takes 2 Hours and during this time the skin is cleansed and afterwards numbed with an appropriate numbing cream so it should not hurt at all. Skin is thoroughly needled in such a way, that each skin part is needled about 15 to 20 times. An even flushing is the best indication for a perfect medical performance.
How quickly will I notice an effect?
After a CIT treatment, you will see results instantly; your skin will appear more radiant and hydrated and over all will feel softer in texture. We recommend 3 sessions at 3-6 week intervals increasing the appearance to be more firm and glowing and a maintenance session 2-3 times a year for lasting results. With collagen growth from around 6 weeks. Skin will continue to improve over 6 to 12 months. 4 to 6 treatments around 4 weeks apart are recommended for collagen and skin rejuvenation, while 6 + treatments monthly is optimal for improving scars and acne scar reduction.
What is the down Time?
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 24 hours on average. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend healing minerals, peptides and hyaluronic acid after the procedure, and to protect the skin with zinc based sun screen. A hyaluronic acid mask placed after treatment. We also recommend the use of mineral makeup to help with the healing. What are the side effects?
There are virtually no negative side effects, and none have ever been reported in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide. Erythema: The skin may remain red for generally 24 hours up to four days after CIT treatment. As the skin heals the erythema will resolve. Six hours after treatment mineral makeup can be used to camouflage the erythema.
Post Treatment Care?
One – two hours after treatment mineral makeup can applied to conceal skin colour, ensure this is applied with clean hands or a cotton pad. Do not use an unclean makeup brush. Thoroughly remove the makeup in the evening with a gentle cleanser. It is recommended post treatment to apply specific non-irritating mineral and vitamins serums to stimulate optimal collagen production. For the next 24-48 hours avoid using skin care products containing Vitamin A, Vitamin C, AHA (Glycolic, Lactic or Salicylic Acids – often found in cleansers and/or highly perfumed products.
