What constitutes a dental emergency?
It can be difficult to know what constitutes a dental emergency. Some of the following concerns can be treated at a dental emergency appointment at Refresh Dental Spa:
- Broken and cracked teeth
- Gum swelling
- Teeth that have experienced trauma
- Lost or damaged fillings
- Dislodged crowns/bridges
Dealing with tooth loss
There are a number of steps that are essential in order to save lost teeth in the event that they are knocked out or severely damaged. It is important to handle a tooth that has been knocked out by the crown of the tooth only. Do NOT touch the tooth by the root as this can reduce your chances of successfully replacing the tooth back into the jawbone. Do NOT rinse the tooth in tapwater.
We advise that patients with knocked out teeth to place them either back in the socket or between the gum and soft tissues of the mouth while you wait to see a dentist. If this is not possible you should place the tooth in a glass of milk or wrap in cling wrap. The sooner you reach a dentist the more likely your chances of saving the tooth will be.
