Fillings/inlays/onlays

We can replace amalgam fillings

Traditionally, unsightly amalgam fillings (or silver fillings) were used to restore decayed teeth or cavities, and is a strong and durable filling material. Unfortunately, amalgam fillings are made of an alloy that contains 50% mercury, and these fillings leak small amounts of mercury vapour when patients chew and place added pressure on their teeth.

If you have existing amalgam fillings that you are worried about, we can replace these with our modern composite filling material.

At Refresh Dental Spa, we use a completely safe composite filling material

This material contains zero mercury, and unlike metallic amalgam fillings it is the same colour as your natural tooth. Our composite filling material can create a stronger bond with the natural tooth, and as it is a highly malleable product, more of your natural tooth structure can be retained. Unlike metallic fillings, our composite fillings do not expand or contract with temperature changes that occur when consuming hot and cold foods – eliminating the possibility of further fracturing of the filled tooth or the filling becoming loose and lost.

Our composite material can be used in both restorative and cosmetic procedures.

Innovative dental techniques enable these composite materials to not only restore teeth with decay, they can also be used to change the colour of teeth or reshape uneven teeth. These cosmetic restorations enhance a natural looking beautiful smile.

We have the latest filling technology to save you time and money in the dental chair

Our Sonic Fill technology allows our dentists to bulk fill cavities and restorations faster than ever before. With Sonic Fill you receive a tailored natural-looking restoration, with the strength and durability you have come to expect – in much less time.

The longevity of your composite restoration will depend on your oral care routine. Brushing twice a day and flossing once a day will ensure your teeth and gums remain healthy and your filling lasts for many years.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays and onlays are similar to fillings, although they require restoring a larger tooth area. An inlay is utilised for the restoration of back teeth, and is placed in the indented surface to repair a tooth with minor decay or a small fracture. An onlay is used to repair a tooth with more extensive decay or a larger filling and covers one of several tooth cusps.

Many of our patients are choosing to replace their existing fillings with either an inlay or onlay to recapture their classic smile. Created with precision in a dental laboratory from high-grade porcelain, inlays and onlays are a much more conservative treatment option than a full crown, and require less natural tooth structure to be removed during preparation.
