Children’s Dentistry

Children cleaning their teethOral health plays an important role within early childhood development, healthy baby teeth and gums are essential for their developing adult teeth as well as sounding words as they learn to talk. By introducing your child to our practice and team from an early age, they will learn dental visits are a normal part of life; this will also help to alleviate fear and anxiety experienced by some people regarding dental appointments.

Ideally, your child’s first visit should correspond with their first birthday and is often just an introduction to our team and practice. You may like to incorporate your child’s first appointment with your own regular checkup, as seeing you have your teeth examined will make them more relaxed and receptive to having theirs done.

During your child’s exam, we will be looking to ensure their gums are healthy and teeth are coming through straight, we will also monitor their jaw and facial bone structure for the development of alignment problems or crowding of teeth, which may indicate a future need for orthodontic treatment. When a problem is diagnosed early, the teeth and jaws are easier to guide into their optimal position, greatly reducing the need for metal braces.

Our team can answer any questions you have regarding the best way to clean your child’s teeth and child tooth loss.
